1863. Manet presents Le Déjeuner sur l'herbe at the Salon des Refusés. Scandal! Beyond the nudity of his characters, it is the "slight" shift that resides in the work that triggers a reaction - whatever it is - in the viewer. This would be one of the main ingredients of a successful work of art and the good seed of modern art.

If it is rare to laugh loudly in front of a work, it is this small shift, often related to the notion of misappropriation, which invites the smile to be outlined on our lips. In 2015, nudity is no longer scandal ... whatever ... We should read our pages on the scandals and polemics of 2014 to make sure ...

It is said that it is better to laugh at it than to cry about it, and, indeed, the file we present in this issue shows us how much laughter and art are essential and life-saving in their combination. And the shooting of Charlie Hebdo that takes place at the very moment when we write these lines commits us to think it all the more. Mockery, satire, caricature, black humor ...

Yes, we like to laugh at others, although it might be better sometimes to laugh a little bit more about ourselves to get the necessary perspective. In our destabilized societies, art - and freedom of expression - remains our pillar. No kidding ! The artists are our leading figures, they are called in this issue Baptiste Debombourg, Sickboy, Dem189, Hell'O Monsters and Jan Kaláb. Thank you, artists!
